Pre-operative diagnostics and pre-operative surgical planning
The DICOM file resulting from a CT/MRI examination can be processed by dedicated software in order to produce a three-dimensional model through 3D printing. Thanks to this type of pre-operative planning, it is possible for surgeons to achieve several important improvements.
In particular, it makes it possible for surgeons to study and/or test surgical approaches, especially if these are new or are not considered standard for the existing procedure. The 3D printed model allows surgeons to pre-shape the plates or prepare other surgical supports before the operation. The visualization of the operating field through a real model, printed in three dimensions, reduces the time and risks associated with surgical operations, regardless of their level of difficulty or the modalities relating to the surgical approach.
